Addicted to f/1.4~~
Due to the rain earlier last night, the 炒猓条 stall has his umbrella opened up, therefore I can't see the action from the bridge like last year, so I can't replicate the photo like the one I took last year, but I do get some interesting enough photo with my new f/1.4~

I come to appreciate how much effort need to put on focusing the object using such a huge aperture lens...

Test Photo for 85mm f/1.4...

I was about 5 feets away from these 2 ladies, and focus on the back lady. Here you can see how thin the DOF can be at f/1.4!! The front lady is only about a feet away from the back lady yet still out of focus at a good degree~
Here is even a better example: I was about 12 feets away from these 2 gentlemen. Focus on the latter guy, Mr. Zero is just next to him. You can see again how blur Zero can get even at such a long distant away~
I am having HONEY MOON with my Nikkor~
Went out with Zero today, thinking of getting a Monopod, then Zero bought a new 50mm f/1.8, then I gatah gatah try the 85mm f/1.4, saw the brilliant Depth of Field, can not tahan, broke my bank, took the money, and see what i have got? ;-)

85mm f/1.4!! What else?? My first f/1.4 lens~
YES, it even smells good~
It feels heavy in my hand man~
This is f/16 at the minimum aperture...
...and this is, ofcos, f/1.4~
It take a 85mm filter thread, got to spend more money on a filter...

20090110 - *Shoot Like A Pro* continue continue...

Louis going through the agenda for today's workshop...
Today is the first day I switch my DSLR to Manual Mode, plus without Auto ISO. The only auto mode would be the Auto White Balance. What a improvement~ ;-)
I used to think Manual Mode will limit down my ability to capture the moment, infact, I only realise now that it actually free myself from the limitation and let me have more control over the end result...
Here we were practising to control the camera 'confusion' over a dark subject on a dark background...
Going through the Posing Technique. I remember now, always start with the legs...
A simple group photo becoming extra ordinary due to posing...
More examples...
Everyone is listening carefully...
Louis in action~
Louis showing off his recent shoots...
Review what we have got so far...
Example of diffused light, and how well it works on a lady...
Example of directional light, and how badly it works on lady...
I simply love this one so much~
Here I learn to observe the difference between using a dome diffuser and without one, can you see the shadow behind the flip chart?
This is my flash bounds on ceiling without a dome diffuser, thus cast a visible shadow behind the flip chart...
Many of us in this workshop are from other places, such as this Korean guy is from Sweden... There are students from Lahad Datu, Sarawak and KL...
My attempt on Louis Pang's signature of Evening Potraiture... haha~
Louis is demonstrating how to make full use of existing ambient lights...
Another example of making full use of available lights around you...
Thanks to all the amateur models, hope to see you guys on Facebook sometimes...
