Who said no news is good news? - 红颜薄命

Unfortunately, another friend has left us yesterday night.

She is now Rest In Peace somewhere which I have now way to find out in my life time. She is not the first one, I really hope she can be the last one, but I am not too sure about it.

I have always been a materialistic person. But now I really feel sooo silly to have work soo hard and earn some money then spend so much on my things around me. Including my house.

There are so much more to life then things around us. What about something which we normally dont see with our naked eyes but only can feel it with our soul?

Like the love between my friend and her hubby? Like the bonding now already built between her and her beloved children?

Those are the things which last more than one's life time.

I was trying to keep in touch with you my friend for the past 2 mini reunion we did. But I guess I was not trying hard enough. And now you are gone.

I remember all those good time we had. Me and Lenard were behind you all the time, we pissed  you off without failed every morning in class. Then we laugh together during reccess time.

You were the most pretty student in our school during that time. Now it is really 红颜薄命.

Ranjith Kanagasundarum

You think this is a complicated name?

I thought so when I first met my buddy in England back in 1995, he has a warm smile on his face when he knock on my door and say: 'Hi, I am Ranjith, how are you? You from Malaysia? You can call me Ranj...'

I just moved into a Hall with bunch of foreigners (to me they are, to them I am), it was a decision I made when I thought I just about had enough of Rice for lunch and dinner and was looking forward to some culture shocks. While most Malaysian choose to stay together, I move into a long 3 years of Culture Shocking Potatos One Night Standing Beer Belly Winter White Christmas Life.

Ranj has influnce me in my Music Taste, so I pay him back with my Photography Perspective. He love his Bass Guitar, I love my Minolta. What is common between us maybe is the fact that we are both not White People, it is totally rude to talk about skin color over there but not here, so he is dark brown and I am light brown.

Ranj sent a an email the night before last night, and I think this is the best email from him since we graduate from Uni.:

I knew he got into Photography sometimes before I left England, and bought his first DSLR like a year after I touch down Malaysia. But what I didn't know is how much more serious he got into this hobby since I last met him.

I am glad because I felt that Photography has once again connect us in our friendship, eventhough we have not seen each other for more than 10 years now.

Proposal Aftermath...

My wise lady friend has spoken again, her comment is so great that it deserve a place on my latest post, here it comes: (Thank you Seventh)

'Friendship is the bigger statement. Lots of people are lovers but aren't friends. Lots of people are relatives and aren't friends. Lots of people work together who aren't friends. You can appreciate or admire someone, but that doesn't make them a friend. 

Friendship is not about always being nice, or agreeable, far from it. A friend will tell you when he or she thinks you're full of shit, but always casts it that way, never as a statement of fact. It's a fine but important distinction. If I say "you're full of shit" to a friend, it must be understood that this is my opinion only. 

We're relatively casual about the word, but sometimes things happen that take the casualness out of it. I had a lot of time to think about what makes someone a friend. If they are scared of you when you need help, sorry, that's not friendship. If their attitude is "for better or worse," if they stick by you through thick and thin, that's when you can tell it's friendship. I do have some friends, but not as many as I thought.'

And this is what I want to say:

I do have many friends, although some friend do not treat me as their friend, I wish them well in the near future, because I care about their 'Well Being'...

Random Thought 20090228 - Proposal Aftermath

One of my lady friend drop me a line one morning, we were talking about my Proposal, and she said one thing the caught my attention. She said:

'From the photos at your house, you have good friends standing by you.'

I took a good look again at the photos I posted recently. Then I have this random thought. At our age and as the City grow bigger everyday, things around us are only getting more and more complicated. Grey Areas are developing aggressively everyday in a most creative way than you can imagine. It is only fair to say, it is seriously not easy to find true friends around us, especially at our age.

I am so f**king lucky that I have a bunch of friends who we share the same passion, and because of that, we almost took for granted (I did at least) the trust and pleasure we have been enjoying.

I felt fulfilling that we can wake up every morning smelling the freshness of the air, meeting familier people we feel comfortable with and doing things that we love to do. If we just share this with everyone everyday, the society can be a better place I guess?

As usual, just a random thought. haha..
